Bangkok--26 Nov--e-Cop
e-Cop (http://www.e-cop.net), the leading managed risk and information security services provider reported that the Asian hacker is still no. 1 in cyber security attacks in Q3. The attacks coming from ASEAN countries comprises of about 38.8%, followed by North America at 23.70% and North Asia at 17.57%. Total attacks originating from Asian continent is around 65.3%. The attack statistics are gathered and analyzed from all e-Cop Global Command Centers (GCC) and partner Security Operation Centers (SOC) which are located in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, India and Thailand.
Top Originating Attack Sources in Q3
“Looking into the details, we found out that port 80 (HTTP Service) is the most frequently targeted for attack by hackers in the past 6 months. In Thailand, there are still service providers, vendors, and customers using the web services and they are at high risk of being attacked. Moreover, RPC port 445/TCP and DNS port 53/UDP are also other top targets by cyber attackers. It is crucial that companies realize this information and recognize potential threats so they can prepare their cyber defense and watch out for unusual attack behaviors. More importantly, companies would have to regularly monitor and audit the security incidents, if possible round the clock. The cyber hackers are coming from around the world, working 24x7, day and night from different time zones. However, this preparation also depends on the result of risk assessment or mitigation plan of the businesses, each is different.”, Mr. Avirot Liangsiri, e-Cop Security Consultant, added.
Top Ten Source Attack Types/Patterns in Q3
“With past 6 months comparison, we also found out that there are similar service ports targeted by hackers. This implies that there are too many vulnerabilities and it is very hard, nearly impossible for companies to patch those vulnerabilities so they still exist within the application and infrastructure. Today, there are many devices or appliances in the market to help us to detect and protect those unusual traffics but one missing important component is the 24x7 surveillance. For organizations that can’t invest in technology and people for this 24x7 security monitoring, e-Cop is able to serve them with our outsourcing service called Information Security Surveillance Services (24x7 ISSS) by using the Security Operation Center (SOC) in Bangkok itself.”, Mr. Noppakoon Khamklin, General Manager of E-C.O.P. (Thailand) Ltd., said.
