Trend Micro, Inc., a global leader in Internet content security, focuses on securing the exchange of digital information for businesses and consumers, and next generation cloud-client content security infrastructure designed to protect enterprises and customers from Web threats, today announced that company chairman and founder Steve Chang has been honored with the first ever “Lifetime Achievement Award” in CNBC’s 2009 Asia Business Leader Awards (ABLA). The “Lifetime Achievement Award” honors the leader who has, during the course of his or her career, made significant contributions in shaping, growing and developing the economic landscape.
The ABLA recognizes outstanding business leaders of successfully managed enterprises in the Asian region. This year, in addition to the annual awards of “Asia Business Leader of the Year”, “Asia Innovator of the Year”, “Asia Talent Management Award”, “Corporate Social Responsibility Award”,” Asia Viewers Choice Award”, “Lifetime Achievement Award”, the “Lifetime Achievement Award” has been bestowed on a recipient for the first time.
CNBC pioneered the prestigious ABLA to salute remarkable business leaders for their continuing commitment to excellence in Asia. This event gathers the most influential names in both industry and government under one roof to celebrate vision and the spirit of achievement in business leadership. On receiving the award MR Chang stated “I would like to thank all of my colleagues for their support, outstanding work, and dedication. Since I left the CEO position and as the chairman of Trend Micro, I always believe talent cultivation and innovation are my responsibilities which should never be ended and I’m enthusiastic about the two tasks. This award is an encouragement to me as it represents not only a recognition to me, but also for Trend Micro as well.”
Steve Chang is the chairman and founder at Trend Micro Inc. and was the company's original chief executive officer until the end of 2004. Trend Micro experienced tremendous growth under Chang's leadership, grew to more than 2,000 employees with sales, operations, research, support and development in over 30 countries. As chairman of the board, Chang continues to be a voice for the company to customers and industry partners. Chang's management style and vision have resulted in innovative and timely antivirus strategies that have been recognized in industry-leading publications. He was named one of Asia's "25 Movers and Shakers" in 2001 by ZDNet Asia. Fortune Magazine has called him a "global force," and he was twice chosen for Business Week's "Stars of Asia" award, recognizing fifty Asian leaders at the forefront of change. Chang was named "Innovator of the Year" in 2004 by Asia Business Leader Awards, and now in 2009 has been honored with the first ever “Lifetime Achievement Award” by ALBA.
Steve Chang has also been an outstanding advocate of cloud computing. The volume of emerging Web and email threats that threaten company servers, workstations, and networks are growing. Noticing the emerging risks and challenges, Steve devoted himself and the company into cloud computing technology 4 years ago to develop solutions which just hit the mark. Also in his opinion, technology innovation and talent cultivation shall be developed in the same time so as to complement each other.
