Bangkok--14 Dec--SET Alumni of the Capital Market Academy (CMA) have formed an “Association of Capital Market Academy Alumni” to more effectively contribute to the country’s society and economy. Being leaders and top executives from public and private sectors in different fields, as a group, Association of Capital Market Academy Alumni has the ability to significantly benefit the capital market. For example, “CMA intake 5 students initiated the establishment of the government’s Capital Market Development Committee, and current and past students supported drafting the Capital Market Development Plan, putting it into practice to become the national agenda,” said SET Chairman and CMA intake 5 student as the founder of the association Sompol Kiatphaibool “Association of Capital Market Academy Alumni acts as a center in building network of CMA students and the alumni, aiming at creating driving forces for the country’s capital market, economy and society development. CMA courses resulted in a strong network among top executives from economic and other sectors; together they exchange knowledge that is beneficial to the development of economy and society. Moreover, the courses help make better understanding and positive attitude toward the role and importance of the capital market to the Thai economy,” noted Association of Capital Market Academy Alumni President Pakorn Malakul Na Ayudhya. In 2010, the association will hold an annual and year-round quarterly academic and establish Academic Club to exchange hot issues about the economy and society every month. For social responsibility activities, alumni plan to hold a CSR EXPO in June 2010. This will be a good opportunity for all sectors to learn about and promote each other’s CSR work. The Exchange established the CMA in 2005 to create a society of leaders with knowledge of and understanding about the economy and society, so that the capital market would be prepared for change. At present, there are nine classes of students, totaling 665 students. For the past three years, Association of Capital Market Academy Alumni has held activities to continually promote economic and social development. The most outstanding recent activity was the establishment of the Thai Capital Market Committee and Development Plan, which is still in force.
