Held in each January. The symposium aims to provide updated information on HIV treatment and research for physicians and allied health professionals. An expert faculty of speakers from Thailand, the Asian region, the United States, Europe and Australia presents a comprehensive review of current HIV management. The symposium also aims to stimulate debate through a series of panel discussions on issues such as access to care and the cost of ARV in developing countries, In the last years, more than 750 participants from Thailand, Asian countries, Europe and America attended the symposium. HIV-NAT organizes the annual International Bangkok Symposium on HIV Medicine. Held in each January. Background HIV-NAT, The Netherland, Australia, Thailand Research Collaboration was initiated by Emeritus Professor Praphan Phanuphak, Professor Joep Lange and Professor David Cooper in 1996. The collaborating partners are the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre, Australia’s Centre in HIV International Antiviral Therapy Evaluation Centre Epidemiology and Clinical Research and the International Antiviral Therapy Evaluation Centre in the Netherlands. The International Symposium on HIV Medicine is a key component of HIV-NAT’s commitment to training and education. It has been convened each January for the past 12 years and at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok since 1999. The 13th International Bangkok Symposium on HIV Medicine will be conducted at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre, 20-22 January 2010. The objectives of the three days symposium are to provide physicians, health care workers and members of the HIV-infected and affected community from Thailand and countries in the region with a comprehensive review of the management of HIV infection and opportunistic infections, the latest updates on research into HIV treatments and vaccines and efforts to improve access to therapy. World class international and local speakers present plenary sessions and facilitate interactive workshops.
