FedEx Support for Haiti Relief Efforts

Bangkok--20 Jan--Aziam Burson-Marsteller FedEx to Move Thousands of Pounds of Critical Supplies for Charitable Organizations Over the next several days, FedEx will donate $700,000 in in-kind transportation to move more than 350,000 pounds of relief supplies to the devastated area. There is a critical need for such basic items as tarps, blankets, cook sets, hygiene kits, collapsible water bottles, medical supplies, food, water and shelter. FedEx is using its logistical expertise to ensure that these life-saving shipments arrive as quickly as possible. FedEx team members load medical aid supplies from Direct Relief International destined to reach victims of the Haiti earthquake onto a FedEx flight out of Los Angeles International airport Working hand-in-hand with World Vision, FedEx team members will build, load and transport 150,000 pounds of relief supplies aboard a dedicated Boeing MD-11 aircraft. The relief flight is scheduled to depart Denver, CO early Monday morning and will arrive later that day in the Dominican Republic. Other weekend efforts include: - Heart to Heart: 20,000 pounds of medical supplies will be trucked to Miami to await transport to the Dominican Republic. - Direct Relief International: 16,000 pounds of medical supplies will be loaded onto FedEx aircraft in Los Angeles and will arrive in Haiti on Monday. - Water Missions: 25,000 pounds of equipment, including 25 solar-powered water purification units and 6 solar-power panels are destined to reach Haiti on Sunday. - American Red Cross: 150,000 pounds of family care kits will move in next few days.
