Mark Arnold was appointed President & CEO of Bank of Ayudhya (BAY) in January 2010. In this role, Mr Arnold’s focus will be on delivering sustainable long-term growth to bring greater value for the BAY’s customers, employees and shareholders.
Prior to his new appointment, Mr Arnold served as CEO of GE Capital Global Banking, Southeast Asia from January 2009, located in Bangkok. In this role, he oversaw GE Capital’s consumer financial services portfolios in Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong in addition to managing GE’s joint venture partnerships with Cosmos Bank in Taiwan and with BAY. In this capacity, he also served as a Director on BAY’s Board of Directors from April 2009. He joined GE in August 1995.
Prior to moving to Asia, Mr Arnold served as Chairman and CEO of Budapest Bank from November 2004 to December 2008, where he spearheaded the growth and profitability of one of the largest universal bank’s in GE’s portfolio.
As CEO of GE Consumer Finance and GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services Portugal from 2001-2004, he successfully restructured both business entities to achieve a significant turnaround in profitability in a challenging market environment.
From 1998-2001, he served as Six Sigma Director for GE Consumer Finance UK, responsible for business productivity, process and outsourcing and managed the UK business efforts to outsource back office operations to India. Between 1995 —1998 he held a number of senior client and marketing roles within GE Consumer Finance UK, managing and developing Private Label and Finance Programs for some of the UK’s leading retailers.
Mark graduated from Liverpool University with a 1st class degree in Economics and Management and gained a post graduate qualification in Marketing.
He is a British citizen and is based in Thailand with his wife and two children.
