Bangkok--26 Jan--Standard & Poor's The number of global issuers poised for downgrades continued its decline in January to 804 issuers from 824 this past month, said an article published today by Standard & Poor's, titled "Downgrade Potential Across Credit Grades And Sectors." "January's tally is the lowest in 15 months," said Diane Vazza, head of Standard & Poor's Global Fixed Income Research Group. "This decrease is largely the result of Standard & Poor's Ratings Services downgrading and assigning stable outlooks to issuers that had been on our list of potential downgrades." Potential downgrades are defined as entities that have either a negative outlook or ratings on CreditWatch with negative implications across rating categories 'AAA' to 'B-'. The 804 potential downgrades is 134 fewer than the average of the trailing 12 months and 132 fewer than the total a year ago. The forest products and building materials, sovereigns, and media and entertainment sectors saw the largest change in negative bias, each narrowing 3% since this past month. (Negative bias is the proportion of issuers with a negative outlook or ratings on CreditWatch negative.)
