Jorge Carlos Smith General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya & Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya
HPL Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of hospitality professional Jorge Carlos Smith as the new General Manager for Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya to be based at the property in Pattaya Thailand commencing on February 15th, 2010.
Jorge, a Portuguese citizen has a track record with over 20 years of quality hospitality experience. He started up career with a TrustHouse Forte’s management training in small deluxe hotels in Portugal and 900+ room hotels in London where he left as House Manager.
Most recently, Jorge served as General Manager for the Award Winning Cocoa Island, Maldives and Executive Assistant Manager for The Metropolitan BKK. Both properties are under portfolio of Como Hotels & Resorts, our sister company. Prior to joining Como Hotels & Resorts, Jorge held various senior hotel management positions with Dusit Laguna, Phuket. Prior to that, he honed his expertise in hospitality management thru various positions with the Mandarin Oriental, in Front Office and F&B, where he left as F&B Manager.
Jorge was raised in Portugal and UK and is a graduate in Hotel & Catering Administration (Hons). Apart from English and Portuguese, he can speak Cantonese and French. Jorge’s interests are varied and multiple - art, design, music (collects 70’s Funk & Jazz vinyl records, and DJ’s whenever he can), photography and wine. He is also a member of a group of Macau contemporary artists, is a gallery owner and produces artworks for individual and collective shows periodically. He was heavily involved in the Wine Society of Macau, and was also before a lecturer in The Tourism Institute of Macau.
