Dr. Wim M.M. Botermans,
Managing Director iSOFT - ASIA
Wim Botermans, born in 1957, graduated from State University in Groningen in Theoretical Physics. In 1989, he obtained his Ph.D. in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from the Institute for Nuclear Physics (KVI) and began an international career in the Information Communication Technology industry.
Wim Botermans started his career as Product Manager at AT&T Network Systems International. He left The Netherlands in 1993 to become Director Marketing & Sales of LU/AT&T Network Systems in Moscow, Russia. He returned to The Netherlands in 1996 and became member of the LU Manufacturing management team. In 1998, Lucent Technologies took him to New Jersey, USA where he became Manager International Access Product Marketing. He became Managing Director of HITT BV (Holland Institute of Traffic Technology) in 1998 where he led successful entries into the Chinese, German, UK and Eastern European markets.
Since 2000, he has been Managing Director of Hiscom BV, the Dutch market leader for healthcare information systems. In 2001 he led the process that resulted in the takeover of Hiscom B.V. by Torex plc. Hiscom BV merged with Torex Health Netherlands in 2002. Wim Botermans became Managing Director of the newly formed organisation Torex-Hiscom BV. In 2003, Torex plc was acquired by iSOFT Group plc, also listed on the London Stock Exchange. Since September 2004, the Dutch organisation has operated under its new name iSOFT Netherlands BV.
Wim Botermans is member of the board and supervisory board of several overarching healthcare ICT organisations, including NICTIZ (Nationaal ICT Instituut in de Zorg), OZIS (Stichting Open Zorg Informatiesysteem) and OIZ (Organisaties voor ICT in de Zorg). He has been a member of Nederlands Centrum van Directeuren en Commissarissen, an organisation for Directors and Supervisory Directors in The Netherlands, and ‘De Industriele Grote Club’ Amsterdam, a society for industry.
Since February 2008, he has been appointed the Managing Director of iSOFT — Asia. He foresees day to day operational and management aspect of the company in this region.
Wim Botermans is married and father of 3 children.
