Mr. Ban Seng Teh, Seagate Technology’s Vice President and Managing Director for the Asia Pacific and Japan recently gave a briefing on “Seagate Turns 30 — Storage Industry’s Present and the Future”. He said that the economic recovery and storage demands will drive the hard disk drive industry (HDD) with worldwide shipments forecast to reach 650 to 670 million units. The continuous growth will drive traffic on the Internet which is expected to exceed 56 exabytes per month by 2013 and has a compound growth rate of 40 percent. The Solid State Drive (SSD) is another growth opportunity that Seagate will focus on as one important initiative to invest in research and development. Seagate’s strategies to expand Asia Pacific market are technology leader, strong customer relationships and search for new markets.
