The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Click2WIN, an online stock trading simulation game, was a great success. This year’s 38,000-plus contestants were 11% more than in the previous year. The contest winner achieved returns of 350%, while the contest yielded over 2,000 new securities accounts,
“The project achieved its objective of helping build a strong foundation for the capital market by expanding the investor base and creating value investors. It also helped promote knowledge and understanding about investment through training courses, seminars and other activities, particularly the online stock trading simulation, which is a low-cost, convenient, and quick channel to get information and invest,” disclosed SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai.
“SET Click2WIN 2009 enabled investors to have free trials of securities trading through the Internet under a real market situation. In 2009, contestants consisted of 30,319 experimenters (79.50%), 7,067 investors (18.53%), and 752 investor contacts (1.97%). The activity can also attract 2,238 new accounts,” said Ms. Patareeya.
SET Click2WIN 2009 winners were Ms. Yuwalak Prommin (an experimenter), who achieved 308% returns; Mr. Chanapol Akkarawichcha (an investor), achieving 350% returns; Mr. Dusit Tisadoldilok from Country Group Securities PCL (an investor contact), achieving 89% returns. The five most popular securities of the game were PTT PCL (PTT), Banpu PCL (BANPU), PTT Exploration and Production PCL (PTTEP), PTT Aromatics and Refining PCL (PTTAR) and Thoresen Thai Agencies PCL (TTA).
