In March, Rossini’s outstanding Italian cuisine will be complimented by a range of engaging wines from Castello Banfi. Following a welcome of enticing stuzzichini and Prosecco guests will enjoy seared tuna with Tropea onion jam and balsamico served with Le Rime 2008 IGT, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio resulting in a full-bodied, smooth wine with aromas of peach and apricot. The second dish, borlotti bean soup with pasta and extra virgin olive oil is accompanied by an intense Belnero Sangiovese 2005 with a gentle bouquet of vanilla, tobacco and coffee leading to a powerful structure of well balanced tannins.
Other highlights include homemade potato and truffle cannelloni with glazed quail leg served with Castello Banfi's newest Super Tuscan, Cum Laude 2005 — an intriguing blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. While a dish of succulent beef cheeks braised in red wine with an orange and beetroot reduction is perfectly matched with a 2004 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.
The memorable evening’s dining ends with a sweet tribute to coffee served with Rosa Regale Brachetto 2008, a unique red sparkling wine with a hint of rose petals and raspberries.
