Bangkok--18 Mar--Australia Dairy
Australia’s $2.5 billion export market for dairy foods gets a boost in March with a series of information seminars across five south-east Asian countries.
About 400 people will participate in the Dairy Australia roadshow which goes from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, Manila, Bangkok and Jakarta.
The audience will comprise south-east Asian food service companies, retailers, manufacturers, food traders and government officials.
The seminars will feature localised information on Dairy Australia’s Situation and Outlook report as well as general Australia dairy industry news and market trends.
It is the third series of roadshows in the region. In future, they will be run in consecutive years with a similar series servicing Middle East and East Asian clients.
Phill Goode (Dairy Australia’s Manager of International Trade Development) said the seminars kept important clients up-to-date with developments in Australian dairying.
“South-east Asia has one of the highest growth rates for dairy consumption in the world,” he said. “The market is moving from a basic commodity market to more sophisticated high value products market. A number of Australian companies are targeting south-east Asia in their marketing plans.”
The region already accounts for about one third of Australian dairy exports. It is set to account for an even greater share as the locals’ interest in a broad variety of dairy products grows.
Two Dairy Australia staff will run the seminar series, which is also supported by Austrade and will include senior Australian embassy officials.
The roadshows start on March 9 and continue until March 23.
