If the industry has greater competitive potential in the world market, it will benefit the Thai economy as a whole. Productivity enhancement and cost reduction are ways to increase competitiveness in the global arena. Mitr Phol has realized this such opportunity and therefore created a real-time CCS system leveraging an innovative IT solution. The new real-time CCS system provides faster CCS reporting, reduces human errors, increases operating efficiency and supports automated cane receipt development. This leads to more efficient sugarcane management. When the sugarcane is of higher quality, the yields will be higher and the average costs will decline. This is another approach to increase our international competitiveness” said Mr. Krisda Monthienvichienchai. Mr. Tewakul Pattamasuwan, Director of Mitr Phukhieo Sugar Mill, said, “Real-Time CCS is a combination of four unique IT technologies for faster and more accurate information management in cane shipments to the plant. The four technologies include: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) enhances management procedures ranging from notification of registration, notification of truck arrival at the plant to networked data on cane shipment serials and cane forwarded to the plant Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) supports data processing and monitoring the conveyance area. The solution is also used to match the RFID codes and data analyzed by the officials of the Office of the Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB) Web Applications for online data integration, processing and reporting to ensure convenient and rapid data access Short Message Service (SMS) is used to report results from the plant to cane farmers within 30 minutes The integration of the four technologies will lead to faster operations, reducing the total process time from 1,440 minutes (one day) to only 30 minutes, providing 100% accurate results and making it more convenient for cane farmers to receive data via SMS. The recent consumer insights indicated farmer satisfaction grew 90%, due to proper and on-time management of quality cane harvests. “Mitr Phukhieo is the first sugar mill in the Thai sugar industry that can report to cane farmers the CCS value of quality cane within just 30 minutes after the crushing process. In Thailand, this is the fastest time among the 46 plants in the sugar industry. The new reporting solution supports the prioritization of quality cane harvests and cane shipments to the plant, maximizing the use of the nation’s resources.
