PEUGEOT continues to expand its customer base in Thailand by unveiling the premium-quality mini multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) “Bipper Metro” 2010 model at the 31st Bangkok International Motor Show. The company announced its readiness to further penetrate the premium European car market and plans to increase sales by 60 percent.
Mr.Pongrit Leenutaphong, Chairman of Yontrakit Automobiles Co., Ltd. and European Motor Cars Co., Ltd. said that the company has introduced the European MPV ‘Bipper Metro’ model to increase brand awareness and to boost Peugeots share in the premium European segment in Thailand. The target customer of this model comprises of customers who have a unique lifestyle which gives importance to fuel efficiency, high level of practicality and high performance, on par with other European vehicles.
The Bipper Metro is a five-seat mini Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) imported from the PEUGEOT automobile production base in France. It’s unique features include rear sliding doors and a stunningly designed exterior. The Bipper Metro is powered by a 1.4 litre HDi Turbo diesel engine that produces 70bhp (50kW) at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 160 Nm at 1,750 rpm, and also comes with an electronically controlled 5-speed trip-tronic gear box. Its average fuel consumption rate is 22.2 km/litre and its emissions conform to Euro 4 standards.
When considering performance, the Bipper Metro can go from 0 to 100 km/hour within 18.4 seconds and its maximum speed is 150 km/hour. The compact-sized Bipper Metro is perfect for use in both urban and suburban areas. Despite its body length of 3.86 meters and a width of 1.82 meters, the interior is well-designed for practical usage and is sufficiently roomy enough to carry large luggage. While the two front seats are independent, convenient and brilliant with genuine leather upholsteries, the back-row seats can be adjusted and folded down to increase luggage loading capacity.
Bipper Metro comes with a stylish and futuristic exterior design with rear sliding doors that allow easy and convenient access to the passenger seats and conforms to the highest safety standards. The rear doors open in two parts and each rear door pane has a separate set of hinges, which makes it easier to load or unload luggage even in a narrow parking space. The front console features a compartments and cubby holes for passengers to keep their belongings, a cup holder, along with many other amenities.
Target customers for the Bipper Metro, besides enjoying a high-quality mini-MPV and having a unique lifestyle, also give importance to great driving performance and the ability to provide exceptional road-holding on Thai roads. The Bipper Metro comes in seven colors for customers to choose from; white, bronze, lime green, blue, red, grey and orange. Prices start at Bt 990,000 for Bipper Metro and 1,190,000 for Bipper Metro Plus.
“As for the sales of PEUGEOT for the year 2010, the company expects to sell 200 cars, a 66 per cent growth from last year. Joining the 31st Bangkok International Motor Show this year, PEUGEOT will present the models already available in the market including PEUGEOT 308 VTi, PEUGEOT 308 Turbo, PEUGEOT 308CC, PEUGEOT 407, and PEUGEOT Expert,” added Mr.Pongrit.
