Bangkok--25 Mar--Siemens
Mr. Prakash Chandran, Head of Energy Sector, ASEAN and CEO of Siemens Malaysia has recently attended the ‘Fuel Options for Electricity Generation’ seminar, hosted by the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) of the Ministry of Energy, as a guest speaker.
The seminar aims to provide a platform for government officials, energy experts, entrepreneurs, and academics in related fields to get the country’s future energy outlook as well as to meet and discuss how Thailand could secure the energy demand.
Mr. Prakash spoke on the topic “Combating Climate Change through Technological Innovation”. He showed his view on combating climate change that energy must be generated and utilized in an environmentally and climate friendly way to counteract global warming and guarantee economic growth and prosperity in the future. Furthermore, he added that technological innovations play a key role in increasing the efficiency of power generation, transmission, and consumption, and avoiding greenhouse gas emissions. He also presented to the audiences how technological solutions could be driving forces to combat climate change.
During his presentation, Mr. Prakash commended Asean in taking the lead in combating greenhouse gas emissions with a clear policy. However, he said the main problem lay with how countries could change their energy-consumption behavior and achieve a more efficient power-generation plan. He stressed that it was necessary for politics to set framework conditions for supporting mechanisms, and every organization had to set environmental care and climate protection as a part of its corporate strategies and policies.
