On the 29th March 2010, U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants-Thailand (USCRI Thailand) collaborated with Business University Forum of Thailand ( BUF), Siam University and Central Pattana Public Company Limited-CPN held a “Business Plan Competition for Economic and Social Develop the Thai Communities along Thai-Myanmar Border” under the concept that supports the sustainable development for the communities on the basis of sufficient economy. And this competition provided the graduates and undergraduates students the opportunity to show their potential and commercial business ideas. It was also a participation in doing good thing for society by creating the business plans in order to give hope to chanceless people both Thais and refugees.
There were 29 teams of students from different universities applied for this competition. Ten teams were selected to go for the final round competition, which was held on 29 March 2010 at CentralWorld Atrium2zone, 1st floor. The 1st winner was “Green Day Team” from Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, which received a reward of 50,000 Baht with a certificate. The 2nd winner was from “RU New Generation Team” from Ramkhamhaeng University, which received 30,000 baht with a certificate. The 3rd winner was “Season Change Team” from Mae Jo University, which received 20,000 Baht and a certificate as a reward. The total award for the three winners was 100,000 Baht.
This competition received the honor from specialists on business, education and law such as Mr. Anurak Tossarat, a Specialist on Migrant Worker Management System, Ministry of Labour, Ms. Chatchanit Musigchai Muhakhun, a Special Lecturer of business School, Thammasat University & Mahidol University, Asst.Prof.Dr. Jompong Mongkolwanit, Director of Siam Institute of Technology, Dr. Jade donavanik, Dean of Siam university Law school, Mr. Vithit Leenutapong, Managing Director of Thai yarnyon Co.,Ltd, and Mr. Wanchai Paiboonbaramee, Finacial & HR director, Manpower. Moreover, there was also an honor from Mr. Burim Otakanon, Program Chair, Marketing College of Management, Mahidol University, as a guest speaker, explaining the students and the participants, who are interested about the business plan along the border to get a better understanding and to make the adjustment for business planning in the future.
The result of the competition of Business planning as following, the 3rd winner was “Season Change Team” from Mae Jo University with “Eim Ame Product Business Planning” by using Khao Pook, which is short snack of people from Khao Phao Pra Lorng and make a change to become a product that can make profit for the producer.

The 2nd winner was team “RU New Generation” from Ramkhamhaeng University with the business planning of “Hand made fabric with natural herb fragrant”. It is a business plan, which will use handmade fabric from the communities to add the value by using the knowledge that is related to natural herbs to mix with the fabric. Apart from the beauty of the final product, it also adds the value to the handmade fabric.

And the 1st winner of this competition was team “Green Day” from Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University with “Corporative Society Efficiency Economy” business planning or “ Sahakorn Por pieng” by using using the concept of producing fish with natural herbs for consuming in the family and to sell to make the profit for the community. The opening presentation of this team was outstanding, which they showed the tradition of Northeastern people and the ability of the presentation, which was so different from an ordinary business planning presentation. This competition also received the honor from Mr. Pairatch Lamyong, Inspector of Ministry of Labour to give the rewards to the winners.
