Asia Plus Securities PCL, one of the top three brokers in Thailand, surprised the market last month by issuing its first Derivative Warrant (DW) into the market, PTT08CA, with the underlying being PTT. The overall reception was strong — with PTT08CA having garnered over THB 31 mio worth of demand. Following the success of this first launch, Asia Plus Securities is prepping up for its second consecutive DW IPO.
“PTT08CA’s trading so far has shown good participation from the retail market. When compared to the DW amount outstanding, the volume is considered relatively high. Particularly in rising markets, leveraged products such as DW tend to perform fairly well. This opportunity provided IPO investors to capitalize on returns on short term trading, which is a good signal and trend for the DW market.”
“For the next DW, Asia Plus plans to launch immediately within the next 2 — 3 months. As for the underlying, the stock selection process is underway, with many interesting potentials. In addition, Asia Plus is also cognizant of the new regulations for Direct Listing of the DW, which the details may be announced by end of Q2. In the mean time, there should be a couple of more DWs by Asia Plus in the market for the investors to participate in.”
Asia Plus is also organizing educational seminars on DW for investors throughout their Bangkok and regional branches. This is to promote awareness for both the clients and marketing personnel and provide insight into this new investment vehicle.
