Support for three older versions of Windows to end shortly

Bangkok--9 Apr--Hill & Knowlton Microsoft advises users to upgrade their software to maintain full protection and support Microsoft Thailand is recommending that all Microsoft? Windows Vista RTM, Microsoft? Windows XP SP2 and Microsoft? Windows 2000 Professional and Server users install the latest service packs available, or alternatively upgrade their operating system software to Windows 7 now that these older versions of Windows are now reaching the end of their lifecycles and security support will no longer be offered. The extended support for Microsoft? Windows Vista RTM will end on April 13th 2010, while support for Windows 2000 Professional and Server and Windows XP SP2 will end on July 13th 2010. “Customers can still use these earlier versions of Windows and functionality will not be impacted, but the end of support for Microsoft? Windows 2000 Professional and Server means that there will no longer be any updates for these products, which may result in security vulnerabilities,” said Miss Lisa Lam, Marketing Director, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited. “Since launching Windows 7 in Thailand six months ago, the customer response has been extremely positive so we are confident that users will not be disappointed by the Windows 7 experience - and with support now coming to an end for these older versions of Windows, we feel that this is the right time for more people to consider upgrading their systems.” Microsoft recommends that existing Windows users update their software as follows: - Microsoft?
