Bangkok--26 Apr--PR Formula Renault Race
After securing fastest time and pole position in the morning qualify session, 15 year old Thai-Norwegian driver Sandy Nicholas Stuvik lead from start to finish of the 10 lap race at Zhuhai International Circuit in China. The Pizza Company and Dacon Inspection Services sponsored driver was at only 15 years old, the youngest in the 12 car grid, but was never intimidated by his more experienced race contenders and kept his cool for a faultless race finish.
The race saw some excitement and a Safety Car session after lap 6 when another competitor spun on the track, but Sandy maintained his position on race restart. The second Thai driver Tin Sritrai qualified 4th and finished the race 3rd in the Asian category.
The Winter Cup is a two race “warm up” mini series for the Asian Formula Renault series which kicks off in earnest on 22 May. Both the Asia Racing Team and Sandy Stuvik now feel confident of a strong challenge for the 2010 Championship title.
