1. Why you chose to study at The University of Manchester?
Personally, I am interested in business and related fields, so I decided to further study at Manchester Business School (MBS), which is one of the leading business schools in the UK. The professors here are also expert and have great experience in their fields. Moreover, there are a wide range of courses available here, so individuals with different interests are able to apply for any course they desire. Students at the University of Manchester are provided with all they need such as library services and sports facilities.
In terms of living in Manchester, you will be fascinated by beautiful buildings and several museums, which reflect culture here. What is more, a number of restaurants and department stores are located in this city, so I think it is not difficult for people, including me, who are accustomed to urban lifestyle, to adapt to the new environment.
2. What is your course of study?
I am going to take a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance this year. This course aims to help students gain insight into both accounting and finance. It also gives me a chance to choose optional courses. Therefore, not only will I gain knowledge from the main or compulsory subjects, but I will also be able to study other relevant topics through optional courses.
3. How Mentor helped me?
The staff at Mentor work professionally. They provided me with a lot of useful information, which, indeed, helped me to go through each process with no difficulties. For example, they let me know all the course requirements early on, so I could make a plan and manage my time in order to be ready for the application. Moreover, after I had been accepted by the university, there were other matters to be finalised, like accommodation. The staff at Mentor gave me lots of helpful details for making a decision. They are, in fact, always willing to help me.
4. My reaction upon receiving news of my scholarship (please give information about scholarship)
MBS offers scholarships for several Specialist Masters courses. All candidates who are accepted are considered. There is no process of scholarship application. Each candidate’s profile such as academic results and work experience is taken into consideration. Due to the limited number of scholarships, I was really delighted when I knew that I got this scholarship, and proud to realize that they believe a Thai candidate like me deserves to grasp this opportunity. Therefore, I will show my potential not only during taking this course but also afterwards.
5. My advice to any Thais thinking of coming to Manchester.
(And anything else you would care to add) For everyone who intends to study in the UK, I think you should plan your life now. If you are students, you should manage your time properly so that your academic results will not become obstacles to your future. However, do not forget to participate in extra-curricular activities, because they are really beneficial in many aspects. You can practice working and living with other people, which is, undoubtedly, essential to your daily life.
If you decide to study in the UK, do not hesitate to choose Manchester as one of your choices, because what you can gain are knowledge and experience. Also, you can build relationships with friends from different parts of the world. Here, “you can get more than you expect”.
