Bangkok--29 Apr--Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa
Celebrating the lychee’s seasonal harvest in the lush jungles of northern Thailand, Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa transforms the summer’s sweetest secret into a thematic array of refreshing cocktails and fusion dining specials, available throughout May and June.
Anantara Golden Triangle’s lychee journey commences from the very moment of arrival, with a spectacular approach to the resort. Flanking the long driveway leading up to the main entrance, an impressive line of ancient lychee trees creates an inspiring first glimpse of the season’s most prized fruit harvest. Indeed these beautiful trees produce far more than a scenic greeting, with their heady sweet fruit, ready for harvesting from the middle of May, offering the perfect opportunity for Executive Chef Paitoon Surawongpaiboon and his team to design dishes with uniquely mouthwatering infusions.
Elephant Bar & Opium Terrace - Cocktail & Mocktail of the Month As the sun sets on yet another memorable day in the heart of the legendary Golden Triangle, guests mingling at this colonial style bar are invited to add an extra dose of local flavour as they swap tales of their jungle adventures. From an exchange of impressive views witnessed during an elephant trek through the intoxicating bamboo forests, to discussing the playful afternoon antics of elephant bath-time, and the breathtaking sights and sounds experienced aboard a traditional longtail boat gliding along the mighty Mekong River, May and June’s cocktail of the month promises to engage the taste buds just as much the eagerly listening ears.
Step back in time and sink into the comforts of leather upholstery surrounded by heavy wooden furniture, and discover good old fashioned liquid temptation in the form of a truly inventive tipple. Comprising a generous serving of whole fresh lychee, the distinctive Lychee Martini (THB 280) features a dash of fresh lime juice for a zesty tart appeal, while a large splash of Smirnoff Vodka empowers the concoction with a cleverly balanced kick.
Take to the terrace and sit around an open hearth with a vista of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos’ rolling hillsides creating a picturesque backdrop for guests to refresh with The Tub Tim mocktail of the month (THB 180). Imagine the freshness of lychee expertly blended with fresh lime juice, pineapple, slices of ginger, and topped up with sprite and a dash of grenadine.
Sala Mae Nam Traditional Thai Restaurant - Lychee infused dishes Take in a panorama of the sun rising over three countries while savouring a more fruitful start to the day, with lavish buffet breakfasts featuring Anantara’s homemade Lychee jam. Return for a traditional Thai lunch or dinner with the undulating hills sprawling out in verdant glory, enhanced by authentic recipes given a sensational seasonal twist. Commence with a Tom Kha Thalay (THB 320) spicy seafood soup of coconut milk, fresh lychee, torn Kaffir lime leaves and finished with lime juice. Move on to the Paneang Ped Yang (THB 400) of grilled marinated duck breast with Paneang coconut curry sauce and lychees, before surrendering to an exotic finale of Warm Black & White Sticky Rice with Lychee Custard (THB 210).
Baan Dhalia Italian Restaurant - Lychee inspired recipes Dine in contemporary style accented by rustic Thai hints and stunning views over the Mekong Valley from this restaurant’s expansive patio. Become enchanted by the genuine flavours of authentic Italian cuisine, with recipes inspired by the juicy addition of lychee. Celebrate the freshness of the season in a Spring Green Salad with Tiger Prawns, Lychee & Wild Rocket (THB 380). Discover a seafood and fruit medley in the Char-grilled Snow Fish accompanied with Garlic Red Butter Rice, Garden Greens, Lychees & Tomato Salsa (THB 680). Then explore the subtle balance achieved in Anantara’s Lychee Mousse with Lychee Compote (THB 200).
