Bangkok--4 May--The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection hotel has appointed Chef Michael Gremer as its new Executive Chef. A dedicated and passionate chef, Chef Gremer studied at the Culinary Science & Hotel Management School in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, before embarking on a career working in some of the world’s top kitchens. With over 20 years experience cooking in five-star hotels, resorts and renowned restaurants he has gained a wealth of expertise with cuisines as diverse as Asian, French, German, Mediterranean, Californian, and Middle Eastern. Chef Gremer’s broad experience extends to restaurant concept development and menu implementation, the organisation of impressive gourmet buffets, and event planning and presentation. Previous appointments have included Executive Chef at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur where he was in charge of a team of 230 kitchen staff, and responsible for the smooth running of 13 outlets and award-winning restaurants. While leading his kitchen team at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Chef Gremer was the recipient of numerous awards including the Malaysia International Baking & Confectionery Gold Medal for Wedding Cake, and a Gold Medal for Pastry Showpieces. Under his direction, the hotel was the only one in Malaysia to be awarded the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine Gold List for Best Food, and his team was awarded 21 medals including best apprentice awards by the Salon Culinaire. Chef Gremer’s global travels have included a culinary study tour of the West Coast of America. He was also guest chef at some of the region’s most prestigious restaurants including the highly praised Chez Panise in Berkley, California, Post Trio, Bay Wolf Oakland, and Catahoula in the Napa Valley.
