The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) recommends that investors manage their portfolios to cope with the current situation by taking a long-term view, gradually investing in equity, mutual funds, and/or derivatives. Investors will receive advice from SET Group and analysts from 20 leading brokers in “SET in the City Zone@ Money Expo 2010” in the Money Expo 2010 event, May 6-9, from 10.00-20.00 hrs. Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok.
“Under the current circumstances, investors may be uncertain about the market. However, Thailand’s overall economic and listed company fundamentals are still strong, with an average 4% dividend yield. Thus, investors may gradually invest for long term gain,” SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai advised.As of their latest book-closing dates, the top five listed firms that have both (a) a dividend yield of 5% and more and (b) are in the portfolios of leading insurance companies, ranked in descending order in percentage terms, were Sansiri PCL (SIRI), Phatra Leasing PCL (PL), Diamond Roofing Tiles PCL (DRT), Supalai PCL (SPALI), and MCOT PCL (MCOT). In any event, it is important that investors closely monitor information and other news in their decision-making.
To help guide investors, ‘SET in the City Zone @Money Expo 2010”, held under the concept “Increase returns in all investment plans”, allows investors to learn about products and services that will help make their decision-making convenient and quick. Financial experts will give advice through various seminars the whole four days.
SET’s area in this major event will cover Meeting Rooms 1-4. Rooms 1-2 is where both new and experienced investors can get expert advice to boost their opportunities and returns. An investor portal, through which investors can check information online, and Live Opportunity Day Webcast introduction. In addition, “stock pick lists” of 89 stocks with a total THB 3.85 billion market capitalization (or 64% of total market capitalization) will help investors select stocks that match their styles. These five lists are for 1) long-term-investment stocks, 2) dividend stocks, 3) high-liquidity stocks, 4) mai stocks and 5) good value stocks. In addition, investors can try SET-TFEX Click2WIN simulation and receive services from SET group members and leading brokers.
In Meeting Room 3, investors will receive information from brokers and gold-related agents about derivatives, such as SET50 futures, gold futures, stock futures, and SET50 options. Several seminars by analysts and other gurus will be held in Meeting Room 4 throughout the event, under many useful topics such as “Analyzing Thai economy to invest in the second half of 2010” “Introducing new IPOs” “Easily analyzie derivatives products on your own” “SET50 futures techniques” “Stock picks for capital gain and dividends” and “Thai stocks — drifting, or heading up?” Also, SET will launch three books: Saving in stock, SET50 Index futures techniques, and The first step in investing through the SET.
