Media Concepts Asia (MCA), in association with Media Concepts California, the world-renowned audio/video post-production studio and digital asset management solution specialist with global network, will organize its inaugural concert “Romantic Moments” on Saturday, May 15. Featuring Korean tenor Kim Jun as well as talented Thai guitarist Chavajed Maskulrat and Soprano Saxophonist Pawarate Ridee, the concert will start at 7.30 p.m. at S31 Hotel (www.s31hotel.com) on Sukhumvit Road (corner of Soi Sawasdee, Suhumvit 31).
Mrs. Sook Yhun, Managing Director and one of the founders of MCA revealed: “Media Concepts Asia is a synergy of a group of international professionals and their Thai friends who share a vision to search for local talents in the artistic and entertainment fields and help groom them for their international career.”
Their inaugural concert, “Romantic Moments” will feature Europe’s celebrated dramatic tenor, Kim Jun Man. Crossing the musical boundaries, Kim will be presenting a beautiful “Popera” repertoire of Italian opera arias, Napolitan canzones as well as contemporary Spanish and Latin American pieces. Among those familiar tunes are Bessame Mucho, Volare, Granada, Brazil, Noche de Ronda and Bella Vida, to name but a few.
Kim will be performing to the music of the MCA Pops Orchestra. Also joining him on stage are Chavajed Maskulrat, a Chulalongkorn University’s music graduate and award-winning classical guitarist now studying in Austria, and Pawarate Ridee, a 15 year-old soprano saxophonist with a gold medal from Settrade Music Competition to his credit.
A Korean-born artist, Kim is a graduate of Santa Cecilia Music Academy and Aidem Academy, top Italian opera conservatories in Rome. He has won several prestigious opera competitions including the First Prize for Mario Del Monaco & Theatre Di Roma and Second Prize for Puccini and Sulmona Opera Compettition (no first prize was awarded), and established the stage presence, performing in Macbeth, Un Balo in Maschera, Tosca, Cavalleria Rusticana among many others. With his love for Thailand and Thai people, Kim currently makes Bangkok one of his homes and has orchestrated in the formation of MCA.
“As an Asian working in this industry for more than sixteen years, I would like to introduce classical music to Asian people especially Thailand which is a heartland of the region. Also I would like to educate young Thai a new and outstanding genre called ‘Popera’, a mixture of opera and pop, which I think is easy for young Thai to open up to.”
