THAI Cargo transports Thai fruit for Tesco Lotus to UK

Bangkok--13 May--Thai Airways International Today, 12 May 2010, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited took part in the “Thai Fruits Going Global Year 2” event to celebrate with Tesco Lotus, the Department of Export Promotion, and the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand. THAI was chosen to be a key partner in shipping Thai fruits to the UK. The event was held at the Department of Export Promotion and attended by Mr. Pichai Chunganuwad , THAI’s Vice President, Cargo and Mail Commercial Department, Mr. Johnathan Sutton, Group Sourcing Manager, Aisa and Oceania, Tesco Plc and Mr. Yanyong Puangrat, Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Ministry of Commerce. Mr. Pichai Chunganuwad, THAI’s Vice President, Cargo and Mail Commercial Department said, “THAI Cargo is delighted to have been chosen as a key partner and the official shipper of Thai fruits to Tesco UK for the upcoming event called, Healthy and Tasty from Thailand.” This annual event is held from May 10 to May 30 to let the British consumers learn about the variety, taste and health benefits of Thai fruits. Mr. Chunganuwad also added, “THAI Cargo is confident about our service in transporting the fresh products via our Perishable Center, especially with our Cold Storage Service facility (or “TGKool”), which is a premium service facility that can control the temperatures and can keep shipments fresh throughout the journey, from origin to destination.” THAI anticipates that the cooperation between Tesco Lotus and THAI Cargo, with superb and full support from the Department of Export Promotion, will promote increased confidence in Thailand’s fresh fruits and vegetables with consumers worldwide, bringing prosperity and sustainability to Thai farmers and Thailand. Mr. Johnathan Sutton, Group Sourcing Manager, Aisa and Oceania, Tesco Plc said the second year of this event showed Tesco Lotus’ continued commitment to help market Thai fruits abroad, and adding, “We are very pleased to have Thai Airways on board as a key partner in our efforts to make Thai fruits better known.” Mr. Yanyong Puangrat, Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Ministry of Commerce said the Ministry of Commerce supports the fresh Thai fruits being exported abroad, which needs the logistics expertise of Tesco Lotus to deliver and distribute worldwide (from local farmers to abroad). He thanked THAI for making the partnership with Tesco Lotus. THAI currently provides cargo freighter service with two Boeing 777-200LRF aircraft operating two flights per week to and from Bangkok-Frankfurt and one flight per week on the Bangkok-Hong Kong-Amsterdam-Bangkok route.
