Bangkok--2 Jun--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand's Corporate Social Responsibility Institute (CSRI) has organized a CSR DAY for Directors program to build awareness of CSR among top executives and directors and drive sustainable social development. This project is organized jointly with the Thaipat Institute (the Foundation for Thailand Rural Reconstruction Movement Under Royal Patronage) after their successful CSR DAY for listed companies and businesses. The program is supported by Total Access Communication PCL (DTAC) and The Bangchak Petroleum PCL (BCP).
CSRI and Thaipat Institute began with CSR DAY for employees, with over 5,000 employees from 120 listed companies and businesses joining the program. With the proven success, the two organizations have expanded to carry out the CSR DAY for Directors program, with tailor-made content to drive social responsibility policy and regulation. Two listed companies with outstanding CSR practices are supporting the project: DTAC and BCP.
The Exchange’s Executive Director, Industry Development Center, Capital Market Development Fund Chaiyoot Chamnanlertkit said “Feedback from CSR Day showed that many companies wanted to increase their policy makers’ commitment towards having a clear and stable direction of their CSR. This program will encourage companies to incorporate social responsibility into their strategic goals and policies, which will lead to efficient CSR practice. This project supports CSRI’s goal of using CSR to drive sustainable social and economic growth.”
Mr. Peerapong Klinlaor, Head of DTAC’s CSR Office said “As we have our Do Good Deeds Every Day program and are a CSR DAY initiator, DTAC is happy to support CSR DAY for Directors. This program supports DTAC’s strategic goal of making every day a CSR DAY.”
BCP Senior Executive Vice President Wattana Opanon-amata revealed, “To run business with CSR, commitment from top executives is crucial. CSR DAY for Directors will help directors and top executives to see the need for and importance of their heavy involvement in their organization’s CSR, thus creating CSR In Process-a social responsibility that business should willingly accept as part of being a good corporate citizen in society.
Thaipat Institute Director Pipat Yodprudtikan added that Thaipat has included world-standard CSR concepts, policies, and practices, such as those from the UN Global Compact, OECD Guidelines, ISO 26000, and Global Reporting Initiative, so that directors and top executives can see the whole picture before creating CSR policies for their respective organizations. Also, the program will help a company’s CSR policy to be flexible, fitting with their organization’s situation. The program will use the Principles-Policies-Practices methodology, a pathway to Triple Bottom Line or People-Profit-Planet, which creates sustainable businesses.
The CSR DAY for Directors program takes only one to two hours and can be set as an agenda item for a board or top executive meeting. There is no charge for the program.
