Siam Commercial Bank announced the appointment of Mr. Robert Ralph Parks to its Board of Directors. Mr. Parks will serve as an independent member of the Board as well as being a member of its Nomination and Corporate Governance Committee.
Mr. Parks brings to the Bank a wealth of expertise in both investment management and investment banking. He currently serves as Chairman of Oaktree Capital (Hong Kong) Ltd., with Asia-Pacific responsibilities for developing investment opportunities and fostering closer relations with governments, regulators, and major corporates across the region. His 35 years experience spans a broad range of roles, including serving as Chairman and CEO Asia Pacific at J.P. Morgan and as a partner at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Parks holds an MBA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Anand Panyarachun noted that, "the Board is delighted to have Mr. Parks as a member, given his insight into the development of trends within the regional and global markets." He added that, "his international perspective and expertise will serve to enhance the capability of the Board in guiding the Bank in formulating effective business strategies amidst the continuing turbulence in the global capital markets.
