Bangkok--16 Jun--PTT
Inviting everyone to prevent the global warming, save energy, use alternative energy, as well as attend free car-engine check up.
Dr. Wannarat Channukul (MD), Minister of Energy, presided over the opening ceremony of the PTT Gasohol E85 regional distributions station together with Dr. Prajya Phinyawat (PhD), Chief Operating Officer, Downstream Petroleum Business Group, PTT Public Company Limited, at PTT Gas Station (Post Exchange Wing 1 Branch), Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province which is the first regional distributor of PTT Gasohol E85 Plus. This event also included the launching of PTT ENGINE TUNE UP project, an energy saving measure for car users.
Dr. Wannarat revealed that promoting the use of alternative energy is a prominent policy of the Ministry of Energy which tries to encourage country to become self-relied on energy usage. Since Thailand is an agricultural country, the use of fuel that contains ethanol made from agricultural products, such as sugar cane and cassava, become a constructive option. This, in the same time, would also boost agriculture sector and secure an income for agriculturalists which is a majority of Thai population. Until present, Thai government has always received a full support and sponsorship from PTT in campaigning alternative energy projects. At this moment, there are a greater number of car-users switching to alternative energy. PTT Gasohol E85 Plus helps reduce oil-consumption; 1 liter of Gasohol E85 would decrease nation’s usage of Gasoline approximately 0.85 liter or 85%. More importantly, PTT Gasohol E85 Plus is cheaper and environmental-friendly product.
The car-engine checking for energy saving or the “PTT ENGINE TUNE UP 2010” is an activity that helps increase car-engine capacity while decreasing oil-consumption and greenhouse gas emission.
Dr. Prajya said that PTT has an effective policy on supporting the use of alternative energy. We do researches on an alternative energy of all kinds as well as develop the PTT Gasohol E85 Plus to meet the quality standard of the Department of Energy Business and suitable for domestic use. PTT Gasohol E85 Plus contains higher octane number with a special additive protecting metal corrosion in a combustion system. An increase of sale, from approximately 400 liters per day in 2009 to 1,700 liters per day at present, illustrates consumers’ trust on PTT Gasohol E85 Plus. Therefore, this can be another effective choice of Thai fuel that can meet international quality standard, decrease pollution, and lessen import of gasoline.
Beside the product development, PTT also tries to increase channels of alternative energy distribution. Presently, all 1,293 PTT gas stations are alternative energy stations. This PTT Gas Station (Post Exchange Wing 1 Branch), Nakhon Ratchasima Province is the first regional distributor of PTT Gasohol E85 Plus, an alternative for northeastern consumers. Therefore, there are currently 4 gas stations that offered PTT Gasohol E85 Plus with the other 3 stations situated in Bangkok area. PTT also plan to increase Gasohol E85 distributors nationwide in conforming to higher demand.
Dr. Prajya added that besides an opening ceremony of Gasohol E85 distribution, there was also a launching of PTT Engine Tune Up project, an energy saving measure for car user, in cooperation with the Vocational Education Commission (VEC). This campaign is designed to boost people’s conscious about energy saving and reduce the global warming. The service provides free car-engine checking at 10 service stations in Nakhon Ratchasima Province during 17th — 26th June, 2010. Beside, free-of-charge service is also available at 100 ProCheck stations situating around the country throughout the year. The 83,000 cars that are expected to join the service can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas of approximately 13 million tons. For more information please call 1365 or visit www.pttplc.com.
