Bangkok--28 Jun--Hill & Knowlton During Q1, RIM shipped its 100 millionth BlackBerry smartphone. It is interesting to note that over half of those 100 million smartphones were shipped within the past 18 months alone, illustrating the rapidly increasing global momentum behind BlackBerry. In fact, IDC recently listed RIM as one of the top 5 mobile phone manufacturers in the world, and RIM was the sole smartphone-only manufacturer to be included on the list. And while RIM is growing rapidly in the consumer market, it also continues to be the enterprise leader with over 90% of Fortune 500 having deployed the BlackBerry solution. RIM is pleased with its strong position in the smartphone space and is excited about its strong roadmap ahead. Revenue Revenue for Q1 FY11 was $4.24 billion, up 24% from $3.42 billion in the same quarter of last year. Units Shipped During Q1 RIM shipped approximately 11.2 million devices including its 100 millionth BlackBerry smartphone. Subscribers The BlackBerry subscriber account base grew approximately 60% over the prior year to 46 million, with 4.9 million net new subscriber accounts added in Q1. Approximately 40% of the subscriber account base is now outside of North America. Carrier/Country BlackBerry products and services are available from approximately 550 carriers and distribution partners in 175 countries around the world. Guidance for Q2 FY11 Revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2011 ending August 28, 2010 is expected to be in the range of $4.4 — $4.6 billion. RIM expects to add 4.9 — 5.2 million net subscriber accounts and ship between 11.6 — 12.1 million BlackBerry smartphones in fiscal Q2.
