On behalf of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand we would like to invite you to attend a High-Level Panel Discussion on the trends and dynamics of media freedom in Thailand's political context.
The public panel discussion will be held on Friday 2 July 2010 at the Chumbhot-Pantip Conference Room, 4th Floor, Prajadhipok-Rambhaibarni Building at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Political Science from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Registration and a breakfast buffet will be open from 08:30 a.m. onward.
Free media is one of the cornerstones of any democratic society. The past turbulent months in Thailand have highlighted the media's important role as events have been extensively covered by local and international journalists. The role of the media is also part of the reconciliation plan put forward by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. This half-day event aims to discuss media freedom in Thailand particularly in the recent political context.
