General Motors Thailand was again presented with the “Outstanding Award for Safety, Occupational Health and Working Environment” at the 24th National Work Safety Week ceremony. This marks the 10th consecutive year that the company has been recognized for its safety performance and work environment initiatives. The award was presented by the Labor Minister Chalermchai Sri-orn (right) to GM’s delegate, Ukrit Srivirach (left), the Director of Safety, General Motors Thailand.
Safety policies and practices have been a top priority at General Motors since the company first started operations in Thailand in 1993 and completed the construction of its plant in Rayong three years later. Standards, applied on GM’s operations in more than130 countries across the globe, are set high, in line with the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare’s work safety strategy. GM’s safety policy also aligns with the Thai government’s vision to drive the economy to sustainable growth by creating the safe working environment for the Thai workforce across the region. GM’s working environment and concern for the welfare of its employees is reflected in all parts of the organization. To give some examples, annual health checkups for physical and mental health counseling are available to all GM employees. Qualified health professionals are on standby at the medical centre, at the Rayong plant for any medical attention needed or emergency events, etc.
