Today 16th July 2010, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) held a Board of Directors’ Meeting chaired by Mr. Ampon Kittiampon, THAI Chairman, at THAI Head Office with the following announcement:
1. Operating Results for June 2010
The Available Seat per Kilometer (ASK) for June 2010 was 7.58% higher than in June 2009, and 4.08% lower than in May 2010. The Revenue per Kilometer (RPK) for June 2010 was 8.30% higher than in June 2009, and 10.87% higher than in May 2010. The Cabin Factor for June 2010 averaged at 65.50%, which was 0.67% higher than in June 2009, and 15.58% higher than in May 2010.
However, in the first half of July 2010, the Revenue per Kilometer (RPK) was 8.90% higher for the same period in 2009. The Cabin Factor averaged 73.50%, which reflects that air traffic and air travel of passengers are already returning to normal. In addition to this, there are excellent advance bookings.
On the operating results for the second quarter, from April-June 2010, the ASK was 2.62% higher than the same period last year. The RPK was 0.19% higher than the same period last year. The Cabin Factor averaged at 64.63%, which was 2.36% lower than the same
period last year.
In the Cargo area, in June 2010, Cargo Operating Result was 25.57% higher than in June 2009, and 1.32% higher than in May 2010 and Cargo Revenue Ton/km (RTK) was 58.23% higher compared to the same month last year. The Load Factor averaged at 65.27%, which
was 26.00% higher than in June 2009.
2. New Economy Class Seats Supplier for Airbus 380-800 to replace Koito Industries. The THAI Board of Directors has approved Recaro Aircraft Seating, a German company, to be the supplier of economy class seats, replacing Koito Industries, for the six Airbus
380-800 aircraft. Recaro Aircraft Seating met the technical requirements and their proposal offered the most benefits to THAI.
3. Management Appointments and Transfer
THAI’s Board of Directors approved the following transfers and appointments:
3.1 Mr. Pruet Boobphakam, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Commercial Department, is transferred to be Special Advisor, Office of the President. This position of Special Advisor, at the Executive Vice President level, has been established as a personspecific position. When the incumbent no longer holds the office, this position will be dissolved.
3.2 Mr. Teerapol Chotichanapibal, THAI’s Managing Director, Catering Department, appointed as Acting Executive Vice President, Commercial Department.
3.3 Mr. Charatpong Burutratanaphan, THAI’s Vice President, General Administration Department, appointed as Special Advisor, Office of the President.
3.4 Mr. Griangsak Sakruangngam, Deputy Vice President, General Administration Department, appointed as Acting Vice President, General Administration Department.
