Bangkok--23 Jul--PTTEP Mr. Anon Sirisaengtaksin (นายอนนต์ สิริแสงทักษิณ), President and CEO of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited or PTTEP, said that PTTEP Australasia (PTTEP AA) has received no claim for compensation related to the reported impacts in Indonesian waters from the Montara incident in Timor Sea last year. The company has not been presented with any verifiable evidence of any damage. If claims are received, the evidence will be assessed and the claims treated on their merits. PTTEP AA has previously worked through the relevant Australian Government agencies to try and clarify claims made principally through the media regarding oil from Montara in Indonesian waters. On 2 November 2009, the Australian embassy in Jakarta issued a media release which stated in part: “…satellite imagery showed on 1 September 2009 that small patches of weathered oil had crossed into Indonesia’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).… the closest patch of weathered oil was observed on 21 September some 94 kilometres south-east of Roti Island …. The main part of the oil (was)… more than 248 kilometres from the Indonesian coastline.” For more information, please contact External Relations Department Sidhichai Jayant Tel. +66 (02) 537 4592 E-mail: [email protected] Tongchit Pongorapin Tel. +66 (02) 537 4587 E-mail: [email protected] Nuanphen Suk-aram Tel. +66 (02) 537 4476 E-mail: [email protected] Fax +66 (02) 537 4444
