The Rembrandt Hotel and the Rotary Club of Bangkok South have joined to organize an “Art for Books” Charity Art Sale on August 18, 2010 at the Rembrandt Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 18.
Funds raised from the sale of artworks will go towards buying library sets for upcountry needy schools, which have been selected by their local Rotary Clubs. A library set consists of over 120 Thai-language text books, which have been selected by Chulalongkorn University’s Sasin Graduate Institute for Primary Grade students aged 6 — 12. As one library set costs Baht 12,000, each artwork will be priced at Baht 13,000 to ensure a maximum number of library sets can be donated to the schools.
Artists who have generously donated their work for this worthy cause include Boaz Zipper, Anat Kitithamrong, Asnee Tasnaruangrong, Claude Peschel Dutombe, Justin Mills, Martin Collins, Myint Swe, Mike Darnel and Thomas Donaldson to name but a few as the list is growing daily.
The charity evening will start at 6:00 p.m. with a reception and art sale, followed by a Concert by the Siam Sinfonietta and string quartet and dinner.
