Monsoon Valley has won five highly prestigious awards at the 13th Japan Wine Challenge, held recently in Tokyo at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel.
The Japan Wine Challenge was set up in 1997 as an independent wine competition, demonstrating to the wine world that Japan is a vibrant wine market to be taken seriously. Since it inception the competition has grown in scale and scope to the point where it is today the largest and most respected wine competition in Asia. The Wine Challenge has also created a platform for developing local Japanese wine tasters into serious wine judges.
With about 1,500 wines from 23 different countries entered this year, Siam Winery received impressive results for its Monsoon Valley wines, as the Monsoon Valley Rose Shiraz won a bronze medal from among very stiff competition. In addition, Monsoon Valley saw four of its premium labels take the highly coveted seal of approval awards for its Monsoon Valley Cuvee de Siam Rouge, Monsoon Valley Cuvee de Siam Blanc, Monsoon Valley Colombard and Monsoon Valley Muscat Sweet Wine.
Kim Wachtveitl, Director Business Development of Siam Winery Trading Plus, Co., Ltd said: “It is a tremendous achievement to win five awards at one time at the Japan Wine Challenge, considering the team of expert judges, both international and local, who ensure that the results come from optimum evaluation of the huge amount of wines entered. We are proud to have yet again raised the quality of Thai wines which now rank alongside famous names from Australia, New Zealand and Chile.”
“We have invested significantly in our vineyard, in the facilities at our winery, as well as our winemaking team, and these awards illustrate that the wine industry and our consumers are impressed with what we have delivered”, concluded Mr. Wachtveitl.
This latest success follows Siam Winery’s triumph in May 2010 when its premium Monsoon Valley wines were recognized for their quality and won several awards from the international wine competitions in Europe - the International Wine Challenge 2010 and the Decanter World Wine Awards 2010, both held recently in London, England.
