Webster University Thailand is proudly bestowed with the honor of being the first American University in Thailand to provide an “American Academic Preparatory Program” for the Royal Thai Scholars. The Royal Thai Scholar Program, under commission by the Office of the Civil Service Commission which chooses top scholars from around the nation for further studies abroad.
The American Academic Preparatory Program will help prepare the Thai Scholars on English language, academic understanding, research writing and American cultural understanding before their further studies abroad, to aid their transition.
His Excellency Mr. Eric G John, US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand also endorsed the program in a speech to the Thai Scholars, where he spoke on “US-Thai Relations and Educational Exchange.”
Mr. Ratish Thakur, the Rector of Webster Thailand University, shared his view on the subject at the keynote address during the orientation for the scholars.
“On behalf of Webster University Thailand, we feel very honored and pleased that the Thai government selected us as the first American university in Thailand to provide an American Academic Preparatory Program for royal Thai scholars who will study in many outstanding American universities such as Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, UC Davis of the University of California, etc. Providing the program for OCSC reinforces our strength of Webster Thailand of being a truly global American university, providing the same academic standard all over 100 campuses worldwide while earning the same accredited American degree.
Other than English learning, the students will have a true American living and cultural experience in American society based on recreational activities and cultural excursions that we provide such as the 4th of July celebration, softball games, BBQ party by the pool, baseball camp, etc.”
Mrs. Benchawan Srangnitra Secretary-General of Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC) also endorsed the program in her note.
“This is the first time that the OCSC arranged a program for our royal Thai scholars within Thailand. We are confident that this program will help prepare our students better adjust to American academics and the living and cultural environment. We selected Webster University Thailand because it is a truly international American university that has over ten years of hands-on experience in delivering high quality academic preparatory lessons to Thai, Asian and European students who have joined its various undergraduate and graduate courses at the University. In addition, with highly qualified American professors and international students, we are confident that the academic and campus environment is quite similar to the home campus in USA.”
