With Philips SimplyHealthy@Schools program, Philips Thailand employees volunteer to teach 120 schoolchildren aged nine to 12-year old on simple ways of improving their health and well-being by paying special attention six areas; air, light, water, oral hygiene, as well as to exercise and the environment.
“Children are often not naturally interested in issues such as fresh air, personal hygiene, light quality and improvement of learning conditions. To get them interested, we have to provide an enjoyable experience. Not by telling them about the subject, or by showing them what we mean, but by getting them involved and letting them find answers and solutions by themselves,” Mr.Prakorn added.
It is accompanied by the upgrading of lighting systems in schools, which was greatly appreciated by children and teaching staff alike and also offered schoolchildren, family and teacher for exchanging incandescent lamp to Philips energy saving lamp, saving 80% of energy for free of charge.
The lighting system of kindergarten school library was replaced with Philips T5 system which help saving 35% of energy while other lighting points in every areas were switched to Philips Super Lifemax TLD80, giving 25% more light and environmental friendly
Mr. Prakorn said “The program creates social value by educating school children and sponsoring their schools’ energy saving lighting equipment. It also offers employees the chance to educate others and learn more about how we as a company see health and well-being. The overall objective of the program is to engage all our employees in giving something back to our community whilst building on our health and wellbeing positioning.”
