Bangkok--11 Aug--Ratchaburi Electricity Generating
Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL., ("Ratchaburi Holding") has expanded its investment in its renewable energy buisness. Currently, Ratchaburi Energy Company Limited, its investment arm subsidiary in renewable energy, entered into a Share Purchase Agreement and Shareholding Agreement of Sustainable Energy Corporation Company Limited, a developer of the 60MW wind farm project in Petchabun province, increasing its stake by 21% (from 30%). The completion of the purchase made the Company the project's largest shareholder with a 51% stake, followed by Wind Energy Holding Company Limited with 39% and retail shareholders with a total of 10%.
Mr. Noppon Minlintanggoon, President of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL., said that the completion of the expansion of our holding in the wind power project has shown our commitment to achieve the Company's investment plan in renewable energy, which aims to generate 100 megawatts by 2016. This is in accordance with the government’s policy of promoting private sector development of renewable or green energy in order to reduce the nation’s consumption of fossil fuels. Ratchaburi Holding has achieved important milestones in its investments in wind, solar and biomass energy. In addition to the 60-MW Kao Kor Wind Power Project in Petchaboon province, Ratchaburi Holding has been successfully acquiring in the Solar Power Project as well as various projects which are currently undergoing feasibility studies.
The Signing of the Share Purchase Agreement and Shareholding Agreement with Wind Energy Holding Company Limited takes effect yesterday (10 August 2010) with paid-up shares valued at 107.1 million Baht funded by Ratchaburi Energy Company Limited.
The Kao Kor Wind Power Project in Petchaboon province has installed capacity of 60 megawatts. The project has received investment promotion tax privileges from the Board of Investment. It also expects to enter into the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) by August and will commence the Commercial Operations by 2012
