Bangkok--13 Aug--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is helping produce trainers in how to use consultative selling to advise clients as to which securities products would best fit their needs. This is a part of SET’s Modern Marketing project to create trainers, who, in turn, will develop 5,000 existing investor contact officers to enhance the Thai capital market’s competitiveness. So far, 32 trainers have been developed. This training is in conjunction with the Association of Securities Companies (ASCO) and Orchid Slingshot Co., Ltd.
“In the past, the SET’s training of investor contact officers focusing particularly on profession development and financial products (“hard skills”). However, traditional ways of marketing focusing only on the product will not be enough. Therefore, SET’s Thailand Securities Institute sought to develop selling expertise (“soft skills”), focusing on the investor contact officers’ becoming consultants, or advisors, to their clients, revealed SET Executive Director, Market Education Center, Punsak Vejanurug.
“We have held Train-the-trainer courses for investor contact officers, who are representatives of securities companies, since July 2010. There will be a ceremony to present certificates for those who passed the training course on August 17, 2010,” added Mr. Punsak.
“Every securities company needs to develop products and the quality of its officers to effectively serve customers. Modern Marketing develops the quality of investor contact officers, which will significantly benefit clients and prepare for liberalization,” said ASCO Chairman. Pattera Dilokrungthirapop.
“Modern Marketing will train two more classes this year, focusing on those who started their capital market careers not over six months ago. Graduates will specialize in both investment and selling,” said Ms. Pattera.
“This course is the first in the industry here to develop consultative selling skills for securities business and will benefit the securities firms for many years,” revealed Orchid Slingshot Co., Ltd. Managing Director Apiwut Pimolsaengsuriya.
