KTC, Nature Explorer, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, and Pacific Asia Travel Association jointly organize Asian-China Friendship Caravan to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relationship. This longest distance caravan in Southeast Asia is designed to promote the Indochina R3A route with the destination being Shangri-La —one of travelers’ magical dream destinations. Participation is open to a party of 35 vehicles from Thai, Malaysia and Singapore. Choices of travel package to choose from only 39,900 Baht per person.
Mr. Staporn Sirisinha, Senior Executive Vice President — Travel and Leisure Marketing Department, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, , said “On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, we are collaborating with them as well as with the Nature Explorer, Chinese Embassy, and PATA on a project titled Asian-China Friendship Caravan. This historic trip of 35 vehicles will explore and promote the Asian Highway Auto venture route connecting Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and the R3A route from Thailand to Laos and China with the destination being Shangri-La. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has initiated a promotion of the car route in 1979, involving Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The event proved very successful for 22 years and generated considerable exposure and revenue for Thailand.”
Ms. Duangdao Suwunarungsi, Managing Director, Explorer Channel Co., Ltd., said “This Asian-China Friendship Caravan is having Singaporean and Malaysian participants over in Thailand to begin the journey with us at the King Rama V Equestrian Monument in front of the Anantasamakom Throne Hall, Bangkok from where the caravan will head to Sukhothai, Chiang Rai, Chiang Kong, Chiang Rat, Kunming, Ta Li, Li Jiang and eventually Shangri-La in the People’s Republic of China. The roundtrip distance is over 5,000 kilometers and the roundtrip distance from Singapore or Malaysia and Shangri-La is over 10,000 kilometers. We believe all caravans will be very pleased of this grand achievement with their family or loved one.”
Mr. Sansern Ngaorangsi, Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Asia and South Pacific), Tourism Authority of Thailand, said “The Asian-China Friendship Caravan is consistent with the policy of Tourism Authority of Thailand and Pacific Asia Travel Association on the promotion of car routes in Thailand, the Indochina, the Maekong River plain and the triangle of economy. It is also a positive reinforcement of the good relationship shared by Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos and China. The Thai tourism industry and the country’s overall image as the center of tourism in Maekong River plain and Asian will see an improvement as a result.
Mr. Gao Zhen Ping, Counsellor and General Consul, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand, said “To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Thai-China diplomatic relationship, China is very pleased to support this Asian-China Friendship Caravan as the two countries have in fact shared a truly friendly relationship for longer than 700 years. This caravan is historic in that it further fortifies the tie and promotes more cultural exchanges. China will reciprocate with a similar trip of Chinese travelers to Thailand in this coming December as well.”

“KTC members who wish to be a part of this historic event can choose from either the 14-day, 13-night Asian-China Friendship Caravan Package from October 17th to 30th, 2010 at only 39,900 Baht per person with a vehicle charge of 12,500 Baht each or the 7-day, 6-night Lost Horizon Package from October 21st to 27th, 2010 from Bangkok, Kungming to Shangri-La if you wish to fly to China and join the caravan from there”
“The caravan from Singapore and Malaysia will take the time from October 14th to November 2nd, 2010. Choices are Asian-China Friendship Caravan at SGD 3,400 or MYR 8,800 per person with a vehicle charge of SGD 595 or MYR 1,550 each. Alternatively, participants can choose the Fly and Drive Package from October 16th to 31st where the cost is SGD 2,975/MYR 7,750 each for the first and the second persons and SGD 2,150/MYR 5,600 each for the third and the fourth persons,” added Staporn.
