Western Digital Corp. (NYSE:WDC) today holds a press event to present the company’s highlights for its fiscal year 2010. As previously reported, for fiscal year 2010, the company posted revenue of US$9.8 billion and net income of US$1.4 billion, or US$5.93 per share, which is an increase of 32% on revenue and 194% on net income as compared to prior year. Hard drive shipments totalled 194.4 million drives for the year, the highest volume of any hard drive manufacturer worldwide.

During the press event, WD showcased a few of the latest hard drives including the fastest SATA hard drive on the planet, the 10,000 RPM WD VelociRaptor?, which is built with enterprise-class mechanics to provide 24x7 durability under high-performance demands, taking the home gaming experience to the next level. WD Scorpio? Blue? is currently the industry’s highest capacity 2.5-inch hard drives targeted at portable computing both atwork and at home with the capability of holding up to 1 TB of data. WD Scorpio? Black? 2.5-inch hard drives combine a lightning-fast 7200 RPM spin speed with a SATA 3 Gb/s interface and 16 MB cache to deliver desktop-class performance.
WD also demonstrated the ideal hard drives for multi-computer homes with a networked storage environment that connects computers, enables file-sharing between PCs and Macs, central storage of data (including music, photos and movies) and viewing on every computer, TV, or Sony? PlayStation?3/Microsoft? Xbox 360 at home. Users can also access their files from anywhere in the world using the MioNet? remote access provided by the My Book? World Edition?.
