ING Life Limited Hosts Major Regional Conference For ING Group’s Agency Channel Leadership

Bangkok--24 Aug--Aziam Burson-Marsteller The event charts the future of ING’s agency channel in Asia ING Life Limited recently played host to ING Group senior executives from across Asia-Pacific region who converged on Bangkok for the 1st Regional Agency Conference. This significant regional event was designed to facilitate the sharing of experiences and setting directions related to ING’s insurance agents in every Asian market where ING is active. The conference was also a clear demonstration of the importance that ING Group, and ING Life Thailand, place on tied agents as a crucial sales channel for today and tomorrow. Leading the discussions was Mr. Ignacio Aguilar, Head of Commerce, Insurance Asia/Pacific, who reviewed ING’s agency performance in the first half of 2010 and outlined critical focus areas going forward. These include agent compensation programs, recruitment and selection of new agents and the structure of ING’s agency channel in individual markets. “ING Group has long realized that tied agents are the most important insurance sales channel in many markets in the Asia/Pacific region, and that is why we have organized this regional conference dedicated to the future of our agency,” said Ignacio Aguilar, Head of Commerce, Insurance Asia/Pacific. “Thailand is the ideal location for this conference because of both the dynamism of the tied agency channel in this market as well as the exciting work that ING Life Thailand has been doing in transforming its agency through enhanced training and recruitment to ensure future growth. I am confident that the participants from other markets will come away with practical ideas for improving their own agencies, based on ING Life Thailand’s experiences.” A key element of the conference was a presentation by Mr. Hans Visser, Chief Agency Officer, ING Life Limited on Thailand’s progress in its agency transformation program called, TransformING for Growth. This program involves the rollout of a comprehensive agency training program as well as a sophisticated agent recruitment and selection system to ensure that ING Life fields the most knowledgeable and professional agents in Thailand. The presentation also covered Thailand’s customer centricity strategy and how this company-wide initiative is realized through the agency channel by new dialog based sales processes and the introduction of new products ideally suited to today’s Thai consumer. “Tied agency will be a key to ING’s success in Thailand and in several other Asia/Pacific markets for many years to come.
