Bangkok--2 Sep--Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
The Living Room’s reputation for showcasing high caliber international jazz musicians is well-deserved. The walls of this sophisticated lounge bar may well be decorated with the black and white images of the jazz greats of yesteryear but it is the living legends of the jazz world that take to the stage.
On September 7th, 2010, The Living Room is thrilled to welcome The Jeremy Monteiro International Trio with very special guest, the renowned Malaysian jazz musician, David Gomes. Performing for 1 night only, jazz fans will be treated to a truly memorable display of musicianship by two acknowledged masters of the genre.
Pianist Jeremy Monteiro is dubbed the “King of Swing” and was instrumental in establishing The Living Room as Bangkok’s premier jazz venue. Swing Magazine of Switzerland called him "one of the best exponents of the jazz piano" after he performed with Monteiro Young and Holt at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. He has recorded more than 20 jazz albums as leader and has played on numerous other jazz albums by other jazz artists, including one by Grammy Award winning jazz saxophonist Ernie Watts, which he also produced. As well as being a professional musician, Jeremy is a dedicated educator and is Visiting Chair of Jazz & Professor at LaSalle College of the Arts in Singapore, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce in the UK, and a Fellow of the London College of Music. He also received the prestigious Cultural Medallion for Arts Achievement in Singapore, the first jazz musician in Singapore to be awarded this accolade.
David Gomes is renowned among Asian jazz enthusiasts as one of the foremost Malaysian jazz pianists and vocalists. For over two decades David has travelled extensively, performing in Holland, UK and Germany. He founded the only two Malaysian jazz outfits to play at one of the world’s largest music festivals, the North Sea Jazz Festival. He has played on the same stage with legendary jazz stars such as Wynton Marsalis, Jack DeJohnette, John Pattitucci and renowned Academy Award and Grammy Award winner, Herbie Hancock.
During the performance with David Gomes, the Jeremy Monteiro International Trio will feature renowned drummer, Shawn Kelley and Thai jazz bassist, Therdsak Vongvichien.
