Recently Pairoj Kaweeyanun (2nd left), President of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. and Aban Marker Kabraji (2nd right), Regional Director, Asia, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the world’s oldest and largest global environmental network, signed on the Contribution Agreement Letter for the Implementation of Participatory Integrated Waste Management for Conserving Coral Reef around Koh Tao, Surat Thani Province. Honorable guests witnessing the ceremony were Adisak Thongkaimook (right), Director-General of Department of Marine and Coastal Resources and Chaiwat Yawwapapong (left), Chevron’s Operational Excellence/HES Manager.
The project aims to preserve and protect living coral reef ecosystems from human activities by improving waste management practices on the island. This includes establishment of working groups and conducts participatory identification of the problems, and solutions. This collaborative project reflects Chevron’s continuous strong performance in environmental protection and management of natural resources in a responsible manner along its presence in Thailand for nearly 50 years. Chevron will continue to undertake activities to preserve the environment in communities where it operates for the local people and the generations to come.
