On 4 - 5 October 2010, the 8th Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) is scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium, under the theme of “Quality of Life: Achieving Greater Wellbeing and More Dignity for all Citizens”. 48 leaders from Asian and European states, the EU Commission and the ASEAN secretariat will meet to discuss a wide range of subjects of common interest for Asia and Europe and propose ways to increase cooperation between the two regions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the EU Delegation and the Belgian Embassy are pleased to invite you to participate in Thailand’s first
ASEM Students’ Simulation Summit
which will take place on 13 September 2010 from 8.00 — 13.30 hrs. at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Ayudhya Road, Bangkok.
The topic of the Students’ Summit will focus on directions to further enhance cooperation between Europe and Asia on Sustainable Development (from an economic, social and environmental point of view). Each student will represent one country participating in the Summit.
On the day of the Simulation, the abovementioned topic will be discussed and participants will try to win support for their proposals.
Prize
The prize for the winners is a trip to Brussels, in the week of 18-22 October 2010, with visits to the EU, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Royal Thai Embassy/Mission of Thailand to the European Communities. Return airfare, local travel expenses, accommodation and meals are included in the winners’ prize.
Participation
All students should prepare for the simulation by researching about the interests and positions of the country that he/she represents on the topic of Sustainable Development.
