Samsung’s famous front-loaders grew at a double speed from last year and the company is now ready to beef the market up with more of medium- and large-scale products under its “Smart Thinking, Simple Living” philosophy. Samsung’s latest washing innovation, the “Eco Bubble,” is the world’s premiere of a washer that promises a total cleaning ability, leaving no residue whatsoever that can answer all occurring washing problems with a tip of a finger, saving energy and friendly to the environment at the same time. Samsung hopes this move will propel it ahead of all competitors with at least an amassed 35% market share.
Mr. Arnut Changtrakul, Deputy Managing Director, Thai Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., reveals the whole picture of washing machine industry that “For the first half of the year (January-June 2010), Samsung has enjoyed a tremendous success with a doubled sales figures from similar period the year earlier. By touting “Smart Thinking, Simple Living” philosophy, Samsung successfully captured the heart and soul of consumer demands for extra convenience and launched series of new washers that answered well all those requirements. In terms of marketing, Samsung washing machine’s presenters “Mew Lalita and Kong Thanabodi Sasiprapa” have effectively represented the new lifestyle of modern families that care about innovations and technologies as a way to achieve a better quality of life. Our improved product distribution and management also contributed to the target success.”
For the second half of the year, Samsung has earmarked the brand new “Samsung Eco Bubble” washing innovation to spearhead the new era of premium washing experiences. The new washer boasts a new washing technology with a more powerful and efficient cleaning ability that delivers thorough cleaning without leaving detergent residues on clothes, and at the same time being gentle to all fabrics and saving both energy and environment. Samsung considers this as a new masterpiece of its washing machine that would surely elevate the life of those who use it. A recent consumer research found that more than 80% of Thai consumers use detergent to do their laundry and 50% are annoyed with the detergent residues on clothes that cause unpleasant odors and skin allergies (source: 2009 Product U&A Study - WM/REF). Considering those most prominent problems among washing machine users, Samsung has then developed the new “Eco-Bubble” washing technology that invents a new detergent dissolving method by adding air pressure into the detergent disbursing step and creating delicate bubbles that can penetrate into fabric 40 times better than normal. This invention not just enhances the washing performance, but makes sure the cleaning cycles leave no detergent residues on to your clothes, making it no need to re-wash your laundry. The bubble created with air pressure also helps cutting the energy costs because it can effectively achieve the same washing performance as hot water of at least 40C, hence using as much as 70% less energy, saving you both money and risks of damaging your clothes with hot water.
On the marketing turf, Mr. Arnut adds that “Samsung Eco Bubble” will be launched in the successful 360-degree marketing environment with both Above- and Below-the Line strategies. “Mew Lalita and Kong Thanabodi Sasiprapa” will continue to be the product presenters to present product qualifications to consumers. Samsung will also beef up and expand its existing sales distribution, making it more extensive to cover more modern trade channels and sales agents. The company will also regularly train its sales staff on the frontline communicating with consumers and improve Samsung washing machine services to become second to none. With all this, Samsung is confident that its “Samsung Eco-Bubble” innovation will help propelling the company’s front-load washing machine segment to become number one of the industry with at least 35% market share by end of next year.
The washing machine market in Thailand has a current total value of over Bt9 billion with front-loaders leading the way with a 50% growth per year.
