Hong Kong was once again voted “Best Business City in the World” and “Best Business City in Northeast Asia” in the annual readers’ poll organised by the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific magazine this year.
Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) Mr Anthony Lau remarked that joint efforts of the travel trade have helped Hong Kong earn these honours once more. He said: “The awards are testament to Hong Kong’s status as a world-class business city. With a comprehensive range of hotel and business facilities, as well as convenient transportation and communication networks, Hong Kong can cater the needs of business travellers. What is more, Hong Kong enjoys a reputation as a paradise for both gourmets and shoppers, offering a gamut of options for business travellers to relax and experience the city outside of work.
“In the first half of this year, Hong Kong received a total of 1.66 million overnight business arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 15%. According to a survey conducted by the HKTB among visitors, 93% of the interviewed business travellers said they would recommend Hong Kong as a travel destination to their friends, while 78% expressed interest in revisiting the city. All these show that business travellers find their trip to Hong Kong satisfying. The HKTB will continue our endeavour to promote Hong Kong’s appeal as a destination for business meetings and leisure.”
Business Traveller Asia-Pacific has published for 28 years and over 90% of its readers are frequent corporate travellers in the region. Since 1992, the magazine has been organising readers’ survey on an annual basis by sending out poll forms to its subscribers. Hong Kong is chosen as the best business city in the world and in Northeast Asia for the second and third consecutive year respectively.
