During 24 ? 26 Aug, the strong monsoon trough lies across the North and upper Laos into a low-pressure cell over upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin while the southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. Isolated heavy rains are possible in the North, the Northeast, the central including Bangkok and vicinity, the East and the South (west coast). The weakening wind and waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf are 1-2 meters high and about 2 meters high in thundershowers. During 27 ? 30 Aug, the monsoon trough will weaken with the southwest monsoon prevailing the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will weaken. Less rain are forecast over the country.
In addition, severe Tropical Storm MA-ON over the upper South China Sea, due about 430 km southeast of Hong Kong, is expected to make landfall in southern China by 25 August. Without a direct effect on Thailand, the storm will weaken to a depression and a low-pressure cell, respectively.
Warning
During 24 ? 26 Aug, people in the North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok vicinity, the East and the South (west coast) should beware of heavy rain and its accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
