General Situation 18 October 2022
The rather strong high-pressure system covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea. Cool, windy weather and 1-2 drop in temperature is likely in the upper country and isolated light rain are likely in the East regions. At the same time, the monsoon trough remains across the middle South of Thailand while an active low-pressure cell covers the upper Andaman Sea. Meanwhile, the southwesterly wind prevailing over the Andaman Sea and the South of Thailand is strengthening with continuous rainfalls and isolated torrential rains in the whole South. People should beware of the severe condition that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the foothills near waterways and lowlands. The winds in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand becomes stronger, forcing the waves in the Gulf 1-2 meters high and in thundershowers more than 2 meters high. The waves in the Andaman Sea are 2-3 meters, and in thundershowers above 3 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore.
In addition, typhoon NESAT over the upper South China Sea was centered about 350 kilometers east of Hainan, China. It is expected to move through southern Hainan, China and will make landfall over upper Vietnam from 19 to 21 October. Meanwhile, the rather strong high-pressure system from China covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea will force the storm to decline rapidly affecting the upper country isolated light rain.

Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in Ranong, Phuket,
Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
